Commissioning Support Engineer/Technologist
The Commissioning Support Engineer reports to the relevant Department Head at the Rally Office based in Calgary.
Candidates will have a range of experience in commissioning and startup of refining, gas processing, LNG or other facilities. The successful candidate(s) will be able to analyze and troubleshoot process equipment, identify root causes and develop alternatives to support startup of a new LNG facility.

Key Responsibilities & Duties:- Making improvements to and offering advice about operational procedures.
- Field testing, performance assessment and analyzing unit operation as the startup progresses.
- Interface with process and maintenance operations personnel.
- Creating and implementing test procedures.
- Investigating problems and diagnosing and reporting faults.
- liaising with clients and installation/project engineers.
- Gathering and analyzing performance and safety data.
- Defines commissioning work packages and prepares the relevant procedures with assistance from discipline engineers.
- Ensures safe execution of all commissioning activities through the application of the work permit procedure.
Specifics:Mechanical (Rotating Machinery):- Develop engineering packages to support modifications to the plant facilities and continue commissioning of the plant.
- Support startup and operation of all rotating equipment, pumps. , gas turbines and large compressor experience would be an asset.
- Support for any material metallurgical issues during startup.
- Develop solutions to any piping stress or equipment stress concerns.
Process Automation:- Develop engineering packages to support modifications to the Process Automation system.
- Trouble shoot the Automation system to resolve operating problems.
- Has an understanding of Automation networks and their operation.
Electrical:- Trouble shoot electrical equipment such as transformers, wiring, electrical switchgear, etc.
Qualifications - Education, Skills and Experience:- Gas processing and refinery operating experience is an asset although candidates with plant design experience will be considered.
- Disciplines required: Process, Mechanical (static equipment, rotating equipment, HVAC), Piping Systems, Electrical, Instrumentation and Controls.
- 5 years’ experience in a maintenance, test or service role within the Oil and Gas and/or petrochemical industry.
- Experience with start-up and completions works on Hydrocarbons processing facilities would be an asset.
- Experience and knowledge of flow metering, instrumentation, PLC, SCADA, valves, pumps, sampling systems, analyzers, flow computers, E&I wiring and control panels.
- Junior candidates, with limited experience will also be considered and will be supported by experienced staff.
- Expertise with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
- Soft skills – such as communication, multi-tasking, shifting priorities, meeting deadlines, leading, managing, coaching, organizing, customer services, teamwork, collaboration, etc.
