Senior Structural Engineer

Successful candidate is a motivated self-starter and team contributor with 20+ years diverse, progressive experience within an EPCM environment and specialized experience in:

  • Engineering project management
  • Structural design of heavy industrial facilities and highway structures
  • Performing analysis and developing structural conceptual and detail designs
  • Managing portfolios of bridge design projects (project screening level to tendering for construction and award) with TIC values in excess of $250M
  • Lead structural reviews for over-mass permits and final approvals for permits issued
  • Establishing project priorities and defining project objectives, scope and preliminary budgets
  • Identifying and obtaining preliminary design information (i.e. topographic, geotechnical, right-of-way, etc.)
  • Preparing invitations for professional services, evaluating responses and recommending award
  • Managing design costs, scope and schedule for all bridge projects
  • Managing project stakeholders including support coordination with regulators to obtain required permits
  • Coordinating with construction staff to provide field support and timely reviews of submissions from contractors


Keys for Success
  • Provide oversight to ensure quality and resolve technical issues; guide and support more junior engineers / designers
  • Manage project schedule commitments; coordinate deliverables and interface with project members and disciplines
  • Prepare, review and control project discipline schedule and manpower loading
  • Ensure quality of deliverables
  • Prepare proposals, cost of services estimates and deliverables lists
  • Established design concepts
  • Liaise with client


Required
  • 4-year degree in engineering from an accredited university
  • Registration with the provincial engineering body and an engineering stamp
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driver’s abstract
  • Regular travel in support of business and project development
