Rally’s initial scope was to design the structural foundations and steel required to support the 200-foot-long inclined gallery. The Client subsequently asked Rally to provide materials handling expertise for the new equipment. The scope expanded to include the mechanical design and specifications for the new conveyor.
As the project progressed, the Client assigned additional work to Rally. This included the design of a new feed transfer chute, plus the provision of construction field support through to completion.
Project challenges included the tight physical constraints around the new conveyor, which necessitated a high feed angle and a modular design concept. The work was also executed within a short plant turnaround window, minimizing the impact to normal operations.
