Project Overview

An existing facility experienced a catastrophic failure of a load cell supporting one of their product storage bins. Operation of the loadout facility was no longer possible due to extensive mechanical and structural damage. Aside from providing rail and truck loadout capabilities, the structure supported a penthouse with transfer points for three conveyor systems, critical for the transport of materials across the facility.

Scope Definition

Rally was asked to provide engineering services to replace the loadout structure, returning the conveyors to safe operation. A design basis memorandum (DBM) was completed to consolidate ideas for a full operational restoration of the facility. The design included upgrades to bin storage capacity, a new control room, and other improvements to the existing facility. This ensured that the Client could reinstate the loadout unit to full operation if desired. The design also needed to ensure that the ongoing operation of the conveyor transfer points would not be interrupted.

Construction Support

During construction of the new facility, Rally provided engineering support to the Client and their contractors. This involved RFI and home-office support, reviews of shop drawings, on-site field engineering, as well as planning and scheduling services throughout construction.

Upon completion, Rally conducted walk-through inspections of the work for completeness. Rally red-lined and provided drawings of the as-built structure.
